South Bend / Mishawaka Management Team
Carl is a retired CPA and was a partner with the accounting firm Crowe Horwath, LLP, for over 40 years. He has spent his life mentoring and helping others. Likewise, he felt it important to impart to his own children the important values he has learned over the years. Thus, his youngest son, Kyle, and he co-founded Senior1Care. Carl’s eldest son, Corey, and his son-in-law, Patrick Broccolo, have since joined the family business and have continued to be excited about the opportunity to work and learn alongside their father. Carl is also pleased to have his wife, Susan, and his sister, Annie working in the family business.
Kyle grew up in South Bend and spent time in Chicago after graduating from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. While living in the “Windy City”, he gained valuable experience working in sales and customer service before heading back to Indiana to start the family business. Kyle finds great satisfaction in helping others and managing the daily operations of Senior1Care.
Director of Client Service and Business Development
Susan Bossung is Senior1Care’s Director of Client Services and Business Development. She has worked in the medical field for many years. She also has several years of experience working with the geriatric population and individuals who suffer from dementia, depression, and anxiety, as well as, she cared for her mother over a period of 20 years who suffered from Alzheimer’s. Susan enjoys working in the family business conducting new client consultations and assessments. She also manages cases, is responsible for client service and new business development.
Jen Bothun, LPN
Director of Care Management
Jen joined Senior1Care with over 12 years of geriatric nursing experience. She has held several nursing and management positions to include: staff nurse, Assistant Director of Nursing for a long-term care facility and was the Resident Care Coordinator for a large Assisted Living Program. Jen is passionate about educating caregivers and providing them with the tools and experience needed to better care for our clients and families. Jen will provide client assessments and service reviews, case management and geriatric care management services for clients and their families.
Client Care Coordinator
Sheila brings over 20 years of management experience to Senior1Care. She has a background in Healthcare Insurance where she specialized in training both members and providers on benefits and the importance of the doctor-patient relationships. She is an advocate for senior rights and has a passion for ensuring that seniors are cared for with dignity and respect. She and her husband live in Elkhart, IN and have three grown children, one grandchild and two very spoiled grand pups.
Director of Finance
Bobbi Hall, a graduate of Bethel College, has over 20 years of experience in the home care and medical field, including durable medical equipment, Home IV Therapy, centralized intake, and management. She administers internal functions for our South Bend, Mishawaka, Elkhart and Indianapolis offices to include payroll, billing, insurance, taxes and facilities.
Sue McPherren, RN
Legacy CNA Program Director
Sue has been a registered nurse for more than 25 years. In 2002, Sue began working for Michiana Healthcare Training as a clinical instructor and was quickly promoted to program director. When Senior1Care assumed the operations of Michiana Healthcare Training in 2014, Legacy CNA Training was formed. Today, Sue oversees both our Legacy Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) schools – one in Mishawaka and one in Carmel. Sue is passionate about the difference she makes in her student’s lives and is an integral part of the growth we are experiencing with the program today.
Client Care Coordinator
Tricia Miller is a Client Care Coordinator who studied Medical Assisting while in college and has over 20 years customer service experience, including 10 years of scheduling experience. Her knowledge from being a caregiver for over five years has helped her relate to the struggles many of our families and caregivers deal with on an ongoing basis. Her passion is to assist clients and families in finding the perfect caregiver match while taking into consideration each individual’s needs, strengths, talents and personalities.
Gennie spent more than 15 years working in the hotel industry and has truly mastered the art of customer service. Prior to the hotel industry, Gennie held a managerial position in the Customer Service department at UPS in the Philippines. There is not anything Gennie would not do for our caregivers, clients and staff alike, so whether you call or stop by, Gennie will take great care of you.
Manager Talent Acquisition
Roz Summerlin, a graduate of Bethel College, brings over 10 years of human resources experience in the health care industry to the team. Before joining Senior1Care, she was the senior recruiter for a local regional health system located in St. Joseph County, IN. Roz’s passion for her community is reflected in her ability to develop programs, form support groups & write a variety of community grants to help the homeless population, women fleeing domestic violence, & other citizens of need reach their greatest potential. As the Talent Acquisition Specialist for Senior1Care’s northern Indiana markets, she will be recruiting and developing compassionate employees to serve our families in need.
Jill Wileman is a CPA who graduated from Indiana University, and has over 30 years of experience in public accounting and private business. She was the controller for a software company and an information technology company, where she saw these companies through growth and acquisition. Jill oversees the accounting functions at Senior1Care, and assures the administrative processes align with the company’s financial requirements.
Director of Care Coordination
Jeff began caregiving at the age of 16 and worked in group homes with high-needs populations, including adults who were developmentally disabled or who had brain injuries. Jeff graduated from Calvin College with a degree in social work and psychology, and worked as a social worker in long-term care and rehabilitation settings for over 17 years before joining the Senior1Care team. Jeff enjoys connecting with clients and their families, and developing relationships across the community to enhance the client experience.
Elkhart Management Team
Chris comes to Senior1Care with 20 years of experience working in health care and with the geriatric population. Chris graduated from Manchester University with a degree in social work, and has worked as a Social Service Director in long term care facilities. Chris brings practical knowledge of geriatric health and extensive experience with care coordination and health planning for the elderly. Chris works closely with caregivers, family members and our clients to help manage these processes, while providing exceptional care and service.
Ann Haley, RN
Admissions Nurse and Geriatric Care Management
Ann comes to Senior1Care with 25 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. She has worked in all care settings to include hospital operating rooms, long term care, home care and hospice. The last 15 years Ann has been working in the medical device industry specializing in advanced wound healing therapies. Ann is passionate about being able to provide families with exceptional care of their loved ones in the home care setting. Ann will provide client assessments, case management and geriatric care management for clients and their families.
Indianapolis Area Management Team
Corey Bossung, CNA
Corey joined the team after moving back from Chicago. While working in the medical field, he gained greater understanding, knowledge, and perspective about obstacles our clients face day to day. Before opening Senior1Care’s Carmel location, Corey became a licensed Certified Nurse Aide. Corey enjoys working in the family business and manages the recruiting and scheduling for our Indianapolis area office.
Patrick Broccolo, CNA
Patrick graduated from Butler University and has lived in the greater Indianapolis area for many years. He is married to Carl’s daughter, Nicole. After several years working in the marketing field, Patrick became a licensed Certified Nurse Assistant. He felt it was important to learn about the needs older adults face and what constitutes a dedicated caregiver. Throughout his career, he has learned the value of professionalism and quality service. Patrick manages new client consultations, customer service, and business development for our Indianapolis area location.
Annie Bossung Lacy, RN
Annie Bossung Lacy is the Executive Director of our Carmel office. Annie is a registered nurse who has over 20 years of experience in nursing with a special focus in geriatrics, mental health and dementia. Her career has included positions as the Director of Nursing in CCRCs and as a consultant for long term care and assisted living communities throughout Indiana and West Virginia. Annie especially enjoys the satisfaction of assisting clients achieve their maximum potential while residing in their home. Being a part of the family’s business, she oversees the administration of the Carmel office and strives to ensure that customer service is always a top priority.
Director Strategic Initiatives
Nikki comes to Senior1Care with over 20 years of sales and marketing experience. Her background has taught her the importance of exceptional customer service, as well as being a positive force of energy to lift up fellow team members. Nikki is from South Bend and received her Bachelors Degree in Marketing from Xavier University. She and her husband, Patrick, have three energetic boys, and a beloved dog named Beau. They reside in Indianapolis and she’s is thrilled to join her dad, brothers, and husband in the family business.
Client Service Manager
Cheryl Bowers is a Client Service Manager in our Indianapolis office. She has worked in the medical field for many years in various capacities. In her last position she worked as a Central Scheduler for Visiting Nurse in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Cheryl has her Associates Degree in Medical Assisting as well as her Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration. She has a heart for all people, but particularly the elderly and will strive to make sure that the clients are paired with the best caregiver possible. Cheryl’s desire to live closer to her children and grandchildren is what brought her to Indianapolis and Senior1Care.
Kari was originally hired on at Senior1Care as a CNA/HHA caregiver in 2012 and has over 10 years of healthcare experience. She comes from a family of first responders and caregivers as her love for caregiving started at an early age. As a teenager she became a family caregiver to her father after he injured himself in an accident. Kari’s calling to help others has contributed to her involvement with many non-profit organizations. She is also a single mother to two amazing kiddos! Kari is excited to be part of the office support team & looks forward to going above and beyond for all Senior1Care clients and caregivers.
Jason Hamby, RN
Legacy CNA Program Director
Jason was born and raised in New Castle, Indiana and began his nursing career in 1996. He has worked in a variety of clinical settings and has been teaching other healthcare professionals for about 25 years. Jason is a CNA Program Director, QMA Instructor, CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor, and TB Certification Instructor. He is truly passionate about education for healthcare professionals and he enjoys sharing his own experiences with others.
Client Care Coordinator
Jenna has a background in education and fine arts. She has a Bachelor’s of Art Education from Herron School of Art and Design with an art history minor and painting concentration. She is a professional and local visual artist. She was the Director of Program Specialist at a nationally accredited preschool for six years. Jenna is a lifelong learner, educator, artist and nurturer. When not at work, you can find her cooking or tackling home DIY projects.
Susan Plough MSN, APRN, BC, CCM
Transitional Care Specialist
Susan has a diverse background in both Nursing and in Case Management. She is a Board Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist in Community Health and Board-Certified Case Manager. Susan has worked extensively with transitions of care in the hospital setting as well as Skilled Nursing Facilities. Susan is also on the Faculty of Indiana University School of Nursing, IU School of Allied Health, and Legacy CNA School. where she teaches Health Policy to both RN’s and Allied Health students. Susan is active in case management functions at the state and national level.
Fort Wayne Area Management Team
Client Service Supervisor
Cristy is a CNA and has worked in the healthcare field since 2007. She always had the desire to help others. In 2015 she obtained her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Practical Nursing. In 2018, she received a certificate from IN Home & Hospice Care Foundation as a Certified Trainer. She is also CPR certified. Cristy is very passionate about clients receiving exceptional care which she provided when she herself was a caregiver. She finds being in the home care field is her purpose in life. Outside of work, Cristy loves taking trips with her family, watching a good movie, and shopping.
Client Care Coordinator
Gina has a career rich in healthcare experience, including several years performing direct hands-on home health care in her hometown of Huntington, Indiana. She also had a distinguished 24-year career with the Indiana Air National Guard, including 14 years as a Health System Technician, managing the medical readiness of all Guard members at the 122nd Fighter Wing. Her favorite part of being a client coordinator has been serving the clients and caregivers. She is passionate about ensuring client needs are met. Gina has volunteered as a Cub Scout Committee Chairperson. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, camping, and spending time with her family. She is a life-long resident of Huntington County.
Client Care Coordinator
Jayme has been a part of Senior1Care’s South Bend/ Mishawaka team as a caregiver for five years, and After Hours On-Call Manager for the last year. She came aboard full-time as a Client Care Coordinator in our Fort Wayne office, leaving behind ten years of being an elementary school teacher. Before teaching, she was a sales representative and administrative assistant for a company that sold a topical oxygen treatment for chronic wounds. Jayme is passionate about healthcare, and therefore is excited and dedicated to continue providing exceptional care to our senior population. In Fort Wayne, Jayme will be doing client care coordination, marketing, hiring, and recruiting exceptional caregivers.
Client Care Coordinator
Dawn has been in the health care field since 1995. She began working as a CNA and HHA in various facilities and private homes. Dawn has also worked with individuals with disabilities as home staff and later a team lead. Her career in healthcare has led her through home care, administration and part time field staff.
In all the years of management, hands on care has always been Dawn’s passion. Nearly 27 years has taught her a great deal of compassion and empathy. She has many stories about her experiences and loves to share her enthusiasm for home care. She knows the people she attends to receive the care they need and deserve. Training new staff to provide quality care is important to Dawn. She teaches from experience and loves seeing others provide exceptional care.
In her spare time, Dawn enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family. In the warmer months, you may find her playing outside with her 5 grandchildren or working on her yard. In cooler months she enjoys updating her home and staying cozy inside with her pets and family. She is a resident of Steuben County and is a proud wife and mother of 4 children. She has 5 grandchildren, 2 dogs and 2 birds.
Jane Francis, RN
Jane worked in the healthcare setting for over 17 years as a post-anesthesia care unit nurse, then a director of a surgical center before transitioning to a top retail company in marketing/sales. There she led one of the largest sales teams based in Dallas, Texas. Most recently, she transitioned to the senior living industry, serving seniors and their families. She is excited to take on this new opportunity as Executive Director, using her past experience to serve others to the best of her ability. Making a difference in the lives of others is her passion!
Chief Financial Officer
Evan is a Northern Indiana native and has over 20 years of experience in the home care field. Upon earning his Bachelor’s in Business from Indiana University in Fort Wayne, he was promoted from Billing Coordinator to Controller and spent nearly 20 years with the same agency as they expanded their business throughout Northeast Indiana. Along the way, he earned his CPA license and oversaw operations as the Administrator. Evan enjoys running and family activities with his wife and two children.
